Spring – You can observe one of nature's most awesome spectacles as the mild Spring escorts thousands of gray whales on their northern migration along the coast. The peak whale watching season is typically mid-March to mid-April. A large number of shorebirds also migrate along this coast and colorful puffins come to nest on off shore rocks, making April and May busy for birds and birdwatchers alike. This is the favorite season for surfers and kayakers and in June the Muscle Beach Cruz thunders in the approaching summer.

Summer – Summer is the warmest, driest and busiest season in Seaside for all types of water sports, golf, biking, kite flying and other outdoor recreation. Seaside celebrates the fourth of July with a parade, a picnic and the largest display of fireworks on the coast. Summer offers the lowest tides of the year, great for discovering the abundant intertidal sea creatures that live along the rocky shores.

Fall – Fall weather can be beautiful and dramatic. Amazing artistic creations are featured at the Sand Sculpture and Beach Festival in September. A blustery fall day is perfect for enjoying the Lewis and Clark Kite Exposition or taking a tour of one of four nearby Lighthouses. Beginning as early as August on their migration south, you can see flocks of shorebirds in flight, turning in unison in exciting aerial displays. The cool, crisp days of fall beckon you to take a long walk on the beach or to find a cozy spot to sip some chowder.

Winter– Your getaway is at it's most spectacular in the colder months. Storm watching on the Pacific coast in Winter is an awesome experience, that often provides the best beachcombing treasures, and gray whale watching as they migrate to their winter home. Great shopping, a visit to the Seaside Aquarium and many holiday events make this a festive and active time of year.
